Musk’s Grok-3 Takes on OpenAI’s Lead
Elon Musk’s xAI has launched Grok-3, claiming it beats OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Google Gemini, and others on key benchmarks—just days after Musk’s $97.4B offer to buy OpenAI was rejected.

The Details
Grok-3 runs on 10x more compute than its predecessor and was trained in January. It’s priced at $22/month, a bargain compared to OpenAI’s $200 GPT-4o Pro plan. xAI also introduced DeepSearch, an AI-powered search engine, and teased a voice assistant in the works.

Backed by bold funding plans, xAI is raising $10B at a $75B valuation. OpenAI may soon hit $300B. As the AI race accelerates, Musk is betting on speed, affordability, and openness to close the gap.
